Helen Pugh, an 8th-grade FRMS teacher, attended the Gilder Lehman Insitute this summer in Washington D.C for a week long professional development seminar,” The Making of America: From the Founding Era Through the Civil War.” The week included exploration of the people, ideas, and events that shaped our country from the colonial era to the Civil War. Major historical events and periods such as the American Revolution, Constitution, Jacksonian America, and the Civil War were looked at it to determine how they shaped America. Geary County is honored to have Miss Pugh as a teacher in our district, as we understand the impact this kind of professional development can have on our students learning.
